Project Description

At first glance we cant get over this fantastic shape: the tapered base coming together into a softly rounded top, flaring out at the top collar. Woven by a male Wounaan weaver, Chong Guatico, in a piece that is over a year in construction. Chong decorates his black basket with white swirling hooks mirroring each other and alternating toothy edges on the sides of each shape. The hooks are a traditional design but the way these are depicted is a very contemporaneity interpretation of a traditional motif.
